Brett DeYoung serves as the Director of Choirs at South Albany High School in Oregon, a position he has held since 2005. He has grown the program at South Albany in terms of both participation numbers and quality of music produced in his time there. Under his direction, the choirs regularly receive awards as well as participate in the OSAA State Championships. During Mr. DeYoung's tenure, the choirs have traveled to many locations including Oahu, San Francisco, Orlando, Anaheim and Seattle. While excellent music making is always his goal, his primary objective is to ensure that his classroom is a safe and welcoming space that will help develop young people into good human beings.
In his spare time, Brett spends time with his wife, Margo, who is serving as the director of choirs at one of his middle school feeders. Together they enjoy traveling, especially keeping up with their two daughters who are attending colleges on opposite sides of the country.
